RPM Challenge
Some of my work over February 2008 I created for inclusion in the 2008 RPM Challenge. These five pieces are linked to above, but I grouped them on a separate RPM Challenge page for ease of reference.
The Bass Tells Only Half The Story
Earlier this year I realized the bow used with an upright bass does not produce sound itself, that is, on its own side of the string and bow interface. I attached a contact microphone to a bow and began working with it. The pieces Bowlisten, Bowlistening Again, Cathedral, Tuva, Tuvatu, Oilbow, Muting Straylight, Carlsbad Cavern Gallows, Do You Believe In Time Travel?, Mirror Goblins, and Moors of Immanence are explorations of this concept. All of the double-sided bow pieces are linked above, but I have grouped them together on Bowlisten.
